About The Position

The High School Physics Teacher at Boston Prep is responsible for creating an engaging and inclusive educational experience for students in grades 9-12. This role involves designing culturally responsive curriculum, teaching multiple classes, and assessing student progress while fostering a supportive learning environment. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues and support services to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special needs and English language learners. The position emphasizes the importance of building relationships with students and families, mentoring, and actively participating in the school community to promote a culture of inclusion and respect.

Requirements

  • An Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in a related area of study.
  • A passing score on the Communications & Literacy MTEL and a content area MTEL within the first year.
  • An SEI Endorsement within the first year for core academic and special education teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement curriculum and materials that are culturally responsive and aligned with state standards.
  • Teach 4 classes per day, ensuring student engagement in learning tasks.
  • Collaborate with co-teachers and specialists to deliver differentiated instruction.
  • Gather and use data to inform instruction and provide targeted feedback on student work.
  • Mentor 8-15 students through advisory meetings and facilitate Valor Circles.
  • Communicate frequently with students, families, and school leaders about academic and behavioral progress.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with instructional coaches and grade-level teams.
  • Engage in professional development and seek feedback to improve teaching practices.
  • Assume tutoring responsibilities during and after school as needed.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and school events.
