About the position
In this role, you will be responsible for providing engineering support on next generation technologies and proven platforms that protect our troops. This includes fulfilling daily responsibilities such as supporting the production line, performing analysis (both first principle calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)), as well as engaging in design activities. This position is part of the Structural Engineering team located in New Orleans, LA, and offers a unique opportunity to work on innovative projects that have a direct impact on defense technologies. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience and be involved in various aspects of mechanical engineering, contributing to the development of solutions that address complex challenges faced by our military forces. You will also have the chance to collaborate with experienced engineers and learn from their expertise, enhancing your skills and knowledge in the field.
Responsibilities
- Providing engineering support on next generation technologies and proven platforms that protect our troops.
- Supporting the production line and performing analysis including first principle calculations and FEA.
- Engaging in design activities as part of the Structural Engineering team.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture Marine Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
- Solid foundation in mechanical design principles, performing first principles and finite element calculations, preferred.
- Working knowledge of CAD modeling using a major CAD software package (e.g. Solidworks).
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with additional CAD software packages.
- Familiarity with defense industry standards and practices.
