About the position

As a Phillips 66 Refining Engineering University New Hire, you will embark on a career path that is designed to provide you with the necessary tools and experiences to thrive in the energy sector. Your journey will include an introduction to company practices, procedures, and technical tools, alongside technical training classes. You will have the opportunity to participate in technical networks and receive on-the-job training. New hire engineers will learn from both internal and external experts, collaborating with more experienced engineers within the organization. This role allows you to contribute to key areas such as business or economic analysis, control systems, environmental considerations, equipment reliability and maintenance, process design, operations, and project management. Job assignments may be located in various locations including Linden, NJ; Houston, TX; Lake Charles, LA; Roxana, IL; Ferndale, WA; Billings, MT; Rodeo, CA; Borger, TX; Ponca City, OK; Los Angeles, CA; and Sweeny, TX. This diverse range of locations provides a unique opportunity to experience different aspects of the refining industry and to develop a well-rounded skill set.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in training and developmental programs designed for early career engineers.
  • Engage in technical training classes and on-the-job training.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and learn from internal and external experts.
  • Contribute to business or economic analysis, control systems, environmental considerations, equipment reliability and maintenance, process design, operations, and projects.
  • Familiarize yourself with company practices, procedures, and technical tools.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science/Corrosion, Metallurgical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field of study.
  • Graduation date between December 2024 and Spring/Summer 2025.
  • Ability to maintain a proper seal with a respirator/face mask, which may require being clean-shaven.

Nice-to-haves

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Previous internship with Phillips 66.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a related industry.
  • Willingness to work in any of the operating locations.
  • Valid driver's license.
