About the position

The position of Maintenance Tech II is responsible for providing the maintenance and repair of the plant's machinery, grounds, buildings and equipment. This role is crucial as the company continues to grow and aims for operational excellence. The Maintenance Tech II will ensure compliance with safety standards, lead food safety culture, and work collaboratively with team members to support production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains highest standard of Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance for self and others to OSHA standards.
  • Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields and aprons.
  • Successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely performs all functions in accordance to OHSA and company requirements and standards.
  • Leads and promotes a strong Food Safety Culture within the facility.
  • Completes Behavior Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues when identified and participates in problem solving.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, Food Safety Preventive Control (FSPC), FSMA, Food Defense, OSHA and other support programs.
  • Evaluates & identifies potential problems, repairs & maintains electrical / mechanical machinery and equipment.
  • Installs new and/or relocates old equipment.
  • Performs necessary repairs and maintenance to buildings and grounds as advised.
  • Cleans and repairs boilers.
  • Identifies potential problems, repairs and overhauls and maintains crane systems.
  • Completes preventative maintenance as assigned and completes required documentation as indicated.
  • TIG welding with mild steel and/or stainless steel.
  • Regular Attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude and accurate troubleshooting ability are required, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to successfully work independently and as a team with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain industrial truck and lift operating certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively - verbally & written.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and good math skills are required.
  • Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction.
