About the position

The Data Center Field Technician II is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of network and server infrastructure assets in data centers, colocations, and edge facilities. This role requires a high degree of initiative and the ability to work with minimal oversight while interacting with other technicians. The position involves working on complex assignments and may require on-call duties on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

  • Install, move, decommission, and troubleshoot hardware including cabinets, shelves, power strips, rails, and various cables.
  • Confirm and label devices, racks, and cables.
  • Work in a standard ticketing system, providing clear and timely customer communications.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Program Policies, Safety Policies, and Security Policies.
  • Perform design redlining and produce detailed reports and documentation.
  • May be required to fulfill on-call duties on a rotating basis.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and 4+ years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow directions from other technicians.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to respond to any on-call request within 1 hour.
  • Experience with cabling systems (power/copper/fiber) based on Statements of Work and SOP standards.
  • Experience working with CAT5e and CAT6 copper cable and multi-mode and single-mode fiber.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and networking components.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and understanding of Data Center best practices.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and data center infrastructures.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (if certified).
  • Proficiency with standard desktop PC tools and applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in Networking, Server/IT infrastructure, and Data Center technologies are desired.
