About the position

The Resource Specialist at Cardiff Elementary School plays a crucial role in supporting students with exceptional needs. This part-time position, at .60 FTE, involves providing comprehensive assessment and instructional services tailored to the unique requirements of each student. The Resource Specialist will be responsible for consultation and coordination with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the appropriate support as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This includes planning and implementing effective curricular resources, conducting evaluations, and providing remediation strategies to help students succeed academically and socially. In addition to direct instructional services, the Resource Specialist will collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt and modify curriculum and teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. This role requires a deep understanding of special education laws and best practices, as well as the ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. The Resource Specialist will also be involved in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational trends and methodologies that benefit students with exceptional needs.
