About the position

The Machine Operator II (Can Press) position is a critical role within the manufacturing team at our Kearney, NE facility. This position is responsible for the operation, setup, and adjustment of production equipment, ensuring that all machinery operates efficiently and effectively. The operator will assist in setups, tool room activities, and maintenance tasks, particularly in debugging equipment and tooling issues that may arise during production. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high production standards while adhering to safety protocols. In this position, the operator will monitor equipment performance and notify supervision or setups in cases of machine or tooling malfunctions that cannot be corrected independently. Regular inspections of parts will be conducted to ensure they conform to specifications, and the operator will be responsible for servicing equipment as needed, which includes adding grease, lubricant, and coolant. The operator will also approve inspection reports and is accountable for meeting established production standards. Documentation is a key aspect of this role, as the operator will complete necessary paperwork related to production, productivity, inspection, downtime, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts. Additionally, the operator will play a vital role in training new employees in the position or area, ensuring they understand the operational procedures and safety measures. Maintaining a clean, orderly work area free of obstructions is essential, as is the observance of safety rules at all times. The operator is responsible for the quality and safety of their own work and must comply with all company procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operation, setup and adjustment of production equipment as required.
  • Monitors equipment, notifying supervision or setups in cases of machine or tooling malfunctions that cannot be corrected.
  • Inspects parts to assure conformance to specifications.
  • Services equipment as required (e.g., adds grease, lubricant, and coolant when necessary).
  • Approves inspection reports.
  • Responsible for meeting established production standards.
  • Completes paperwork as required, including production, productivity, inspection, downtime and SPC charts.
  • Trains employees new to the position or area as required.
  • Keeps area clean, orderly, and free of obstruction.
  • Observes safety rules at all times and immediately reports unsafe conditions to department supervision.
  • Is responsible for quality and safety of own work and compliance of all company procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • Eighth grade education required.
  • Must be in good standing with the company.
  • High school education preferred with at least three months' work experience in a manufacturing setting.
