About the position

The Aircraft Mechanic II - Avionics position at Vertex Aerospace LLC involves performing maintenance, inspection, and repair of aircraft electrical and avionics systems, specifically for the CH-53 aircraft. The role requires advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot complex systems, provide guidance to other employees, and ensure compliance with safety and security standards. The mechanic will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the work area and handling hazardous materials according to company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft maintenance including inspection, operational testing, repair, and modification of aircraft electrical/avionics systems.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provide technical assistance to other employees.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of maintenance/technical manuals and special tools and test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and rewire complex avionics/electrical systems and subsystems.
  • Coordinate with customers, OEM, management, and work centers regarding aircraft modifications and repairs.
  • Estimate and assess damage of avionics/electrical components related to crash and mishap damaged aircraft.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work center and adhere to FOD prevention rules.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with Vertex and OSHA policies.
  • Perform duties using automated equipment and software for aviation maintenance.
  • Provide customer support during aircraft launch and recovery when assigned to the flight line.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Aviation Electricians Mate Strand Class certification.
  • CH-53E Communications/Electrical System Organizational Maintenance certification.
  • Must meet Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements.
  • Extensive Depot level repair experience desired, including repair of components and airframes.
  • 6 years of experience on CH/ME-53E aircraft.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Optimized Naval Aviation Logistic Management Information System (OOMA).
  • Knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention, and treatment.
