Xcel Energy is seeking an Entry Level Engineer to join our Gas Standards team, which is responsible for overseeing pipeline safety regulations to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation CFR Title 49 Parts 190-199, state regulations, and company standards. This position is designed for individuals looking to develop their technical expertise in engineering, particularly in the area of gas standards and compliance. The successful candidate will work under supervision, developing gas standards, policies, and design criteria to meet compliance requirements and industry best practices. The role involves leading communications with state pipeline safety regulators and coordinating compliance inspections, as well as collaborating with internal stakeholders to evaluate and communicate compliance requirements with business practices and processes. As an Entry Level Engineer, you will perform work that involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features. You will have the opportunity to lead small to medium, non-critical projects and provide field oversight of critical projects under the direction of higher-level engineers or supervisors. Your work will be reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy. As you gain proficiency, you may work on portions of larger projects, and you may supervise or coordinate the work of interns, drafters, craft personnel, technicians, and others. This position offers a hybrid work schedule and can be based out of Denver, CO, or St. Paul, MN. The Entry Level Engineer will utilize technical standards, principles, theories, and concepts to perform activities and assignments of limited scope. You will support the development of technical documentation, provide ongoing technical support for project activities, and coordinate or lead projects under the guidance of higher-level engineers. This role is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or those with limited experience to start their careers in engineering while contributing to the safety and compliance of pipeline operations at Xcel Energy.
