About the position

Coca-Cola is seeking a General Laborer for our Lehigh Valley Syrup plant, located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This position involves performing general housekeeping and sanitation duties to ensure a clean and safe working environment. The General Laborer will operate a floor scrubber, dispose of non-conforming products, and utilize a forklift for loading and unloading trucks. The role also includes materials and product handling, as well as operating equipment used for cleaning and packaging hoses. The physical demands of the job require the ability to lift up to 60 lbs, and the candidate must be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment. In this role, the General Laborer will be responsible for inspecting the facility to ensure adherence to safety and operating policies, as well as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The individual will operate necessary equipment, including a floor scrubber, to maintain cleanliness in the warehouse and manufacturing areas. Responsibilities also include performing production activities for equipment set-up and sanitation, operating hose winding and washing stations, and maintaining safe and clean work areas. The General Laborer will handle and dispose of non-conforming products and accurately record information regarding their disposition. Additionally, the General Laborer will move raw materials and finished products within production facilities using forklifts or other warehouse equipment to supply production and facilitate shipping. The role requires effective communication with peers to exchange feedback on product and service issues, identify and solve problems, and assess needs to achieve business results. The General Laborer will also be expected to identify activities not in accordance with company policies and procedures and inform the appropriate parties. Other duties may be assigned by management as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general housekeeping and sanitation duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing and/or shipping experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to record accurate information.
  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Available to work overtime and/or flexible shift hours when required.
  • Good attendance and punctuality.
  • Takes initiative and has accountability for the quality and effectiveness of own work.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of production and warehousing.
  • Able to safely operate a forklift and perform physical tasks including lifting and pushing/pulling (up to 60 lbs).
  • Demonstrated commitment to development of skills.
  • Works well in a team environment, across functional boundaries.
  • Able to identify equipment and operational problems.
