About the position

General Motors is seeking a Human Resources (HR) and Labor Relations (LR) professional to serve as the HRLR Site Lead at our Charlotte Customer Care & Aftersales (CCA) site in North Carolina. This role is pivotal in delivering HR and LR services to a workforce of approximately 125 employees. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing daily support on HR and LR activities while also offering leadership and direction that aligns with General Motors' mission, culture, and objectives. The HRLR Site Lead will work strategically with functional business leaders to enhance working relationships, boost employee engagement, and attract and retain top talent. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities related to site safety activities, making it an excellent opportunity for someone eager to make a significant impact within the organization. In this position, you will partner closely with the Plant Manager to drive GM culture, promote positive employee experiences, and improve overall employee engagement. You will be tasked with fostering a positive working relationship with the union through the consistent application of local and national agreements, negotiating and implementing these agreements, and ensuring adherence to grievance procedures. As the HR leader for the site, you will oversee talent planning, performance management, compensation planning, recruiting, and selection processes. Compliance with company policies and support for investigations of employee concerns will also fall under your purview. Your role will involve facilitating training on HR policies and procedures, championing workplace safety initiatives, and supporting the implementation of the Global Manufacturing System (GMS). You will also be responsible for cascading company-wide communications regarding HR/LR initiatives and ensuring that local policies and regulations are administered appropriately. Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Plant Manager in driving GM culture and promoting positive employee experiences.
  • Promote a positive working relationship with the union through consistent application of local and national agreements.
  • Negotiate and implement local and national agreements.
  • Participate in Joint Leadership Meetings and activities.
  • Ensure adherence to the Grievance Procedure.
  • Provide HR leadership for the site, including talent planning, performance management, and compensation planning.
  • Ensure compliance with policy and support investigations of employee concerns.
  • Manage hourly, contract, and salaried employment administration.
  • Facilitate training on HR policies and HR/LR procedures.
  • Champion assigned Workplace Safety System Elements and administration of local safety-related items.
  • Support People Involvement and implementation of the Global Manufacturing System (GMS).
  • Participate in regular HRM and Talent Forum discussions with Site Leadership.
  • Cascade company-wide communications and announcements regarding HR/LR initiatives.
  • Support enterprise initiatives, including Talent Spotting and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs.
  • Function as an escalation point of contact for uncommon or exceptional employee issues.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for continuous improvement and partner with COEs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, LR, Business, or a related field, or at least 4 years of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience providing HR and/or LR support to an organization.
  • Experience working in a union environment, negotiating, and resolving conflicts.

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in HR, LR, business, or a related field.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety practices and requirements.
  • Experience in Warehouse, Manufacturing, Operation, or Distribution.
  • Highly proficient analytical and project management skills.

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HR applications (e.g., Workday).
