As an IRS Revenue Agent (Examiner) at the GS-14 grade level, you will serve as a technical expert on tax compliance issues, independently examining and investigating significant tax compliance issues involving complex income tax returns filed by individuals or organizations. This role requires a strong background in accounting and tax law, as you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive analytical examinations of tax returns to determine tax liability and violations of Federal tax statutes. Your recommendations may lead to criminal prosecution and civil penalties, emphasizing the importance of fair and impartial judgment in your work. You will also provide expert accounting and financial management advice to higher levels of management, examining accounting and financial information systems that reflect a variety of complex financial operations. Additionally, you will lead teams of other Revenue Agents (Examiners) and specialists, coordinating examinations and providing guidance on significant tax compliance issues. In this position, you will serve as a technical expert in the performance of tax computations in cases with significant tax compliance issues, impacting tax compliance strategy and the examination program. You will handle cases concerning large, complex businesses, including those with extensive subsidiaries and diversified activities. Your role will also involve interpreting, developing, and adapting analytical reviews of new policies and procedures, advising management on compliance policies, and leading national analyses of tax computational issues.
