The Instructional Support/Literacy (Dyslexia) Teacher at Lake Travis ISD plays a crucial role in supporting students with reading and writing challenges, particularly those identified with dyslexia. This position is based at Bee Cave Middle School, which is part of a well-regarded district known for its commitment to academic excellence and comprehensive educational programs. The teacher will work under the direction of the Principal to implement effective strategies that help reduce or eliminate reading and writing impediments, ensuring that all students can fully benefit from the district's educational offerings. In this role, the teacher will supervise all phases of the campus reading program, providing targeted dyslexia intervention services tailored to the needs of individual students. This includes assessing students' needs, developing personalized intervention plans, and monitoring progress to ensure that students are making gains in their literacy skills. The teacher will collaborate with other educators and staff to create a supportive learning environment that fosters student success and encourages a love for reading and writing. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in literacy education, particularly in dyslexia intervention strategies, and will be committed to helping students overcome their challenges. The position requires a Bachelor's degree and a valid Texas teaching certificate in Reading/ELAR, along with specialized training in Orton-Gillingham methodologies. Candidates with additional certifications, such as Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) or Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT), will be preferred, as will those with Special Education certification and relevant teaching experience.
