About the position

Biodesix is a leading diagnostic solutions company focused on lung disease, developing diagnostic tests that address critical clinical questions by leveraging multi-omics and artificial intelligence. The Laboratory Technician I plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the laboratory, which includes the setup, execution, and support of laboratory activities. This position requires technical training and experience to perform regulated clinical laboratory tests, from specimen receipt to result generation, using standard in-vitro laboratory techniques. The technician will also operate a proprietary Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and work collaboratively across various departments, including Development, Customer Service, Accounting, Quality, and Operations. Ongoing training will be provided to enhance the skills necessary for this role. The Laboratory Technician I must embrace a culture of transparency, demonstrating excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering complete and quality results on time. They are responsible for promptly communicating issues to management and following through to resolution. Qualified technicians may act as responsible delegates according to the Biodesix Quality Matrix, fulfilling day-to-day responsibilities required for compliance with CAP/CLIA and state-specific requirements. The role also involves adhering to various regulatory standards, including CLIA, CAP, NYS CLEP, and ISO, ensuring that all laboratory operations meet the highest quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Completes training and Competency Assessment for all new and existing procedures
  • Takes responsibility for completing continuing education (CE) requirements set by applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies
  • Performs all test realization functions in support of Biodesix products and services
  • Performs duties in line with established SOPs
  • Enters appropriate data into LIMS
  • Uploads appropriate data to the Customer Service team
  • Contributes to the overall maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies following SOPs
  • Contributes to the creation and revision of Laboratory SOPs in the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Contributes to Internal Audit readiness through good documentation practices
  • Performs all job functions in accordance with HIPAA
  • Contributes to Development projects, as needed
  • Communicates effectively with on-site and remotely located management/support teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology; or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined by CLIA
  • Experience with high complexity testing, HPLC, LC-MS and/or ELISA preferred
  • Outstanding technical laboratory skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to thoroughness and error-free execution of procedures
  • Exceptional organizational and documentation skills
  • Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office suite)
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with strong work ethic
  • Self-motivated with exceptional written and verbal skills
