About the position

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager at Phoenix Airport is responsible for overseeing food safety operations, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and fostering a culture of food safety within the organization. This role involves collaboration with senior management, conducting audits, training staff, and maintaining high standards of food safety in a fast-paced airport environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all food safety-related inquiries.
  • Work collaboratively with senior operations management to foster a 'food safety culture'.
  • Review analysis and specialized audits and reports on food safety and operational assessments.
  • Partner with senior management to respond to and resolve audit and complaint deficiencies.
  • Analyze data from the annual Food Defense Assessment to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and deliver allergen and food safety training initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with regulatory agencies and suppliers.
  • Deliver Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans for production kitchens.
  • Conduct annual Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) reviews.
  • Perform environmental monitoring for data trending and microbial data.
  • Assist with annual 'mock recalls' to trace food ingredients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a food safety and quality assurance role within the food service industry.
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing food safety programs.
  • Experience with regulatory audits and inspections, including FSMA and FDA Food Code compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop food safety teams.
  • Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and HACCP Certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the airport or hospitality industry is preferred.
