The Manufacturing Engineer for Aircraft Assemblies position is a critical role within the aerospace manufacturing sector, specifically focused on the assembly processes of aero structures. This position requires a detailed understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to analyze manufacturing drawings from the Design Office. The engineer will be responsible for defining and describing assembly operations, creating manufacturing routers, and establishing work instructions or technical sheets that align with the Bill of Materials (BOM). This role also involves the development of manufacturing assembly, testing, control, and inspection procedures to ensure quality and efficiency in production. In addition to the technical aspects, the Manufacturing Engineer will calculate execution times for each operation and follow up on any discrepancies or issues raised during production. This includes creating and managing Design Quality Notifications (DQN) and improving technical sheets based on feedback from the workshop. The engineer will also be tasked with organizing and carrying out process validations and conducting Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to mitigate risks in the assembly process. The role requires experience in assembly routings, time calculations, and special processes related to the Final Assembly Line (FAL) of aero structures. The engineer will also be involved in shop floor layout optimization for assembly lines and will need to provide cost estimations associated with the industrialization of new assembly lines. A solid understanding of composite materials and manufacturing processes is essential, and knowledge of wiring harnesses and cabin interiors is considered advantageous. The engineer will engage in First Article Inspection (FAI) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, working closely with customers to understand their requirements and define execution work plans. Technical guidance to the team and support during technical reviews will also be part of the responsibilities, along with leading pilot projects to ensure successful implementation of new processes.
