About the position

Eye Associates of New Mexico is seeking a dedicated Medical Admin Assistant to join our Patient Service Team at our Rio Rancho location. This full-time position offers a starting pay of $15.00 per hour, with potential increases based on skills and experience. In this role, you will be responsible for various administrative tasks that are crucial for the smooth operation of our medical office. You will contact patients prior to their appointments to gather necessary insurance and demographic information, ensuring that medical charts are prepared accurately. Your attention to detail will be essential as you enter patient information into our computer systems, verify insurance plan referrals, and check co-payments. After patient visits, you will assist with the check-out process, collect payments, and issue receipts. Additionally, you will complete financial arrangements for lab patients and manage daily cash reports. Your ability to answer patient questions and provide excellent customer service will be key to ensuring a positive experience for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Contact patients prior to their appointments to obtain correct insurance and demographic information for preparation of their medical charts.
  • Accurately enter patient information into the computer.
  • Check for valid insurance plan referrals.
  • Verify co-payments; copy insurance cards.
  • Check the patient out after the visit.
  • Collect appropriate payment and issue receipts.
  • Complete financial/payment arrangements for lab patients.
  • Batch daily registration forms.
  • Complete daily cash reports.
  • Answer patient questions.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Training and/or experience in bookkeeping preferred.
  • Microsoft Office experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced, high volume medical office environment.
  • Detail oriented, accurate, and able to meet deadlines.
