About the position

Watercrest Senior Living is seeking a passionate and dynamic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve as the Memory Care Director at our Macon, GA location. This role is pivotal in leading our memory care programming, which is dedicated to creating a welcoming community where residents feel like family. The Memory Care Director will embody our mission of 'To Welcome, To Care, To Serve' and will be responsible for ensuring that our residents receive the highest quality of care in a supportive and engaging environment. This position requires a servant leader who is committed to promoting our memory care philosophy and adhering to the associated standards. As the Memory Care Director, you will oversee all aspects of medication management, ensuring compliance with state regulations and company policies. You will also be responsible for training and supervising resident care specialists, ensuring they are well-acquainted with each resident's individual conditions and capable of providing sensitive and effective care. Your leadership will extend to planning and organizing high-quality memory care activities that foster engagement and community among residents. In addition to direct care responsibilities, you will develop and oversee a resident engagement calendar, collaborate with programming and community team members to create enriching programs, and participate in resident assessments to evaluate their physical, mental, social, emotional, and functional capabilities. Communication with the Resident Wellness Director, responsible parties, and healthcare providers regarding resident care needs and changes in condition will be a critical part of your role. You will also manage the department budget and expenses, maintain current knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia topics, and respond promptly to requests from residents, families, and guests. This position requires on-call coverage every other weekend and may involve assisting with shift coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all aspects of decision making in memory care services.
  • Promote Watercrest's memory care philosophy and adhere to associated standards.
  • Contribute to medication management including orders, administration, storage, and documentation.
  • Ensure resident care specialists are familiar with residents' individual conditions and trained to provide effective services.
  • Supervise, train, and coach Memory Care team members in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Lead, plan, organize, and oversee high-quality memory care activities throughout the day.
  • Develop and oversee a resident engagement calendar.
  • Partner with programming and community team members to plan and develop programs for Memory Care residents.
  • Participate in resident assessments focusing on physical, mental, social, emotional, and functional conditions.
  • Communicate resident care needs or changes in condition with relevant parties.
  • Assist with maintaining resident charts as required by regulations.
  • Conduct assessments of residents' needs at admission and regularly scheduled intervals.
  • Responsible for department budget and expenses.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia topics.
  • Participate in community meetings and events.
  • Respond in a timely manner to requests from residents, families, and guests.
  • Assist with covering shifts due to call-offs and vacations.
  • Assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Provide on-call coverage every other weekend as assigned.

Requirements

  • LPN or RN license required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in senior living, preferably in a Memory Care environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 2 years' experience in supervising and management.
  • Dementia certification is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with budgeting in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of state regulations regarding memory care.
