Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the plumber will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the proper functioning of plumbing systems within the college's facilities. This role requires a strong understanding of plumbing codes and regulations, as well as the ability to work independently and efficiently in both indoor and outdoor environments. The plumber will plan, estimate, design, and install plumbing systems, as well as repair existing systems. This includes working with water, gas, air, wastewater, and irrigation systems, and ensuring compliance with water and energy conservation practices. The position also involves repairing gas leaks, installing new plumbing fixtures, and maintaining records related to plumbing activities. The plumber will operate various hand tools and power equipment, and may also be responsible for training and providing work direction to maintenance staff as assigned. In addition to technical skills, the plumber must possess strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to communicate effectively with administrators, contractors, and other personnel. The role requires physical stamina and dexterity, as it involves heavy lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions. The anticipated start date for this position is September 2024, with a work schedule of Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, not exceeding 40 hours per week.
