About the position

The Social Worker at Loyola University Chicago is responsible for providing short and long-term therapy to students enrolled at Arrupe College and those who have transitioned to bachelor's degree programs. This role includes psycho-social assessments, case management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to support student mental health and wellness. The Social Worker will also engage with families, create programming related to mental health, and maintain appropriate records while acting as a consultant for behavioral and clinical issues affecting academic performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides short and long-term therapy to students currently enrolled at Arrupe College and those who have transferred to a bachelor's degree program.
  • Offers support to families and parents of Arrupe College students as available.
  • Conducts psycho-social assessments and diagnoses behavioral and clinical impairments, providing recommendations and environmental manipulations.
  • Participates in case conferences with student personnel workers, school personnel, and community agencies.
  • Creates and supports mental health and wellness programming, including the Spirit of Arrupe Sommer Orientation program and the Arrupe College Wellness Fair.
  • Makes referrals to public or private social service, community, and government agencies, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Acts as a liaison between school, family, and community resources.
  • Maintains school records and provides written reports and communications.
  • Participates in in-service training and planning as a resource person.
  • Consults to resolve problems concerning behavioral and clinical factors affecting academic performance.
  • Responds to immediate student needs and concerns in collaboration with staff and faculty.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work or related field.
  • One to three years of related experience.
  • Valid State of Illinois license as a LCSW or LCPC.
  • In-depth knowledge of special education programs and experience working with individuals with exceptional needs.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in mental health and/or outreach work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Supervised experience with a college or young adult population.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
