Security Officer - ARMED (4 Locations, FT On-Site, Testing Required!)

About the position

The Security Officer I - Armed position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, assets, and interests across multiple locations of Georgia Power. This role involves employing armed security tactics, conducting screenings, monitoring security events, and responding to incidents. Candidates must be prepared to work various shifts, including holidays and overtime, and must pass several prerequisites including psychological and firearms evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Protect personnel, assets, and interests throughout the Company's footprint.
• Employ armed physical security tactics and conduct screenings.
• Monitor security events and respond to incidents effectively.
• Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic at designated locations.
• Maintain personal protection equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Coordinate with Operating Company and Corporate Security groups.
• Evaluate and determine appropriate actions in response to security incidents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's/associate degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in law enforcement, military, private, or industrial security preferred.
• Must pass psychological test, drug test, firearms evaluation, and Internal Threat Program requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state firearm permit and driver's license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Software House CCURE and Avigilon Video Management System (VMS) Software.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Superior computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and make decisions within prescribed policies.
