About the position

As a Server, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable dining experiences for our guests. Your responsibilities will include serving food courses and alcoholic beverages, setting tables according to event types, and ensuring that all service standards are met. You will be the point of contact for guests, answering questions about menu selections and communicating with the kitchen regarding any special requests, dietary needs, or allergies. Your ability to maintain a clean and organized work area will be essential, as you will be responsible for the cleanliness of dining areas, china, and glassware throughout your shift. In this role, you will also be tasked with recording transactions using the MICROS system, checking in with guests to ensure their satisfaction, and completing closing duties such as restocking items and processing payments. Adhering to company policies and safety procedures is paramount, and you will be expected to report any accidents or unsafe conditions to your manager. Your professional appearance and demeanor will reflect the high standards of Marriott, as you welcome and acknowledge all guests, anticipate their needs, and express genuine appreciation for their patronage. As a Server, you will develop and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues, supporting each other to achieve common goals. You will need to communicate clearly and professionally, ensuring that all quality expectations are met. The role requires physical stamina, as you will be standing, walking, and moving throughout your shift, as well as lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance. Your ability to navigate various surfaces and perform tasks that require fine motor skills will be essential to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests.
  • Set tables according to type of event and service standards.
  • Answer questions on menu selections.
  • Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, wait times, recook orders, and product availability.
  • Record transactions in the MICROS system at the time of order.
  • Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages.
  • Pick up trays and clean tables as needed to ensure a clean dining area.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day.
  • Complete closing duties, including restocking items and turning off lights.
  • Present physical and accurate check to guests and process payment.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and support team to reach common goals.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.
  • Experience in a food service or hospitality environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance and objects in excess of 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for grasping, turning, and manipulating objects of varying size and weight.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience as a server in a restaurant or hotel setting.
