About the position

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is a leading North American provider of midstream energy services, offering a comprehensive range of services including natural gas gathering, treating, processing, transportation, and storage. The Mechanical Technician Trainee position is designed for individuals seeking to gain the necessary training and experience to become qualified Mechanical Technicians in the pipeline industry. This role involves working closely with a mentor for a training period typically lasting between 9 to 24 months, during which the trainee will participate in various training courses, both computer-based and instructor-led. The position also includes on-the-job training that focuses on troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating equipment associated with gas compression and the pipeline industry. The Mechanical Technician Trainee will be responsible for maintaining all equipment to the highest quality standards while minimizing costs. The role requires participation in safety meetings and adherence to established safety policies and procedures. The trainee will also review procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards, meeting all regulatory agency requirements. The position emphasizes the importance of optimizing work to minimize overtime and performing both remedial and preventative maintenance while maintaining safety through good housekeeping practices in and around the facilities. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required, and the successful candidate will be expected to take callouts and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work side-by-side with a mentor to undergo training for a period of time, which is normally 9-24 months, in preparation for a future Mechanical Technician position.
  • Participate in a variety of training courses including computer-based and instructor-led training.
  • Receive on-the-job training which will address troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating equipment associated with gas compression and the pipeline industry.
  • Maintain all equipment to the highest quality, in a timely manner, while keeping costs at a minimum.
  • Participate and successfully complete all assigned training programs.
  • Participate in required safety meetings and comply with established safety policies and procedures.
  • Review procedures as necessary to ensure compliance with all company and industry standards to meet all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Optimize work to affect a minimal amount of overtime.
  • Perform remedial and preventative maintenance and maintain safety through good housekeeping practices inside and outside of the facilities.
  • Use and wear all PPE when required.

Requirements

  • A high school degree or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • A vocational-technical certification or an Associate's degree in Electronics or related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 months to 1 year mechanic experience in a related field is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • Ability to read and understand, analyze and interpret documents, equipment repair manuals, reports, and federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
  • The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions is required.
  • Basic computer skills such as opening, creating, and updating content in Microsoft Word documents and Excel spreadsheets is required.
  • The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business, at various levels of the organization, in a businesslike and professional manner is required.
  • Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues. Quickly and efficiently completes tasks.
  • The ability to demonstrate conscientiousness, dependability, and commitment to the role, team, and company.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in an industrial environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in the pipeline industry is preferred.
