About the position

Colorado Athletic Club Monaco, a leading upscale athletic, aquatics, tennis, and family fitness club in Denver, is seeking a Tennis Director. This role is pivotal in overseeing the club's tennis program, which includes developing, implementing, and marketing lessons, leagues, tournaments, and special events for individuals and groups of all ages and abilities, from youth to elite and recreational players. The Tennis Director will also be responsible for recruiting, hiring, and developing tennis department associates to ensure high-quality tennis instruction and successful tournaments and leagues. Collaboration with the club and company facilities team is essential to maintain the highest level of court playability, maintenance, and repair. The Tennis Director will represent the club in area professional tennis activities and at state or national tennis events, with approval from the General Manager. Additionally, the Director is expected to teach a minimum of 5 on-court hours per week, ensuring hands-on involvement in the tennis program.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the club's tennis program, including lessons, leagues, tournaments, and special events.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop tennis department associates.
  • Ensure high-quality tennis instruction and successful tournaments and leagues.
  • Collaborate with the club and company facilities team for court maintenance and repair.
  • Represent the club in professional tennis activities and events at state or national levels.
  • Teach a minimum of 5 on-court hours per week.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years as a Head Tennis Professional with supervisory/management experience.
  • 10+ years of tennis experience in competitive play.
  • 5+ years of teaching experience in tennis.
  • Desire to participate in member events, retention, and new member acquisition.
  • Demonstrated financial success in managing tennis programs, including understanding accounting and budget functions.
  • Membership in either the USPTA or the USPTR organization.
  • Educated interest or participation in pickleball and community organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and listening.
  • Ability to motivate, organize, and lead others to achieve objectives.
  • Independent, innovative, and entrepreneurial thinker.
  • Outgoing, personable, and friendly demeanor.
  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in organizing community events for pickleball participants.
