About the position

The Travel Youth Care Worker (ICE Transport) position at MVM, Inc. is a critical role that involves providing secure and humane treatment to Unaccompanied Children (UC) and families during their transportation across the country. This position requires a commitment to the company's core values of service, support, and success, and is essential to the ongoing operations of the organization. The role demands availability for a minimum of four consecutive days per week, including night and graveyard shifts, weekends, and holidays, to support a 24/7/365 operation. As a Travel Youth Care Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of minors and families during transport. This includes providing orientation in a language they understand, maintaining constant supervision, and ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures. You will also be tasked with securing personal property, including medications, and providing necessary supplies such as clothing, hygiene items, meals, and drinks for the duration of the transport. The position requires effective communication skills to interact with minors and families, as well as the ability to deescalate situations with uncooperative individuals. You will log transportation details in MVM's proprietary system and report any changes or concerns to the Command Center. Additionally, you may be required to conduct vehicle safety inspections and ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. The role involves frequent travel, both domestically and internationally, and requires flexibility in working hours to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide secure and humane transportation of unaccompanied minors and families according to established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct orientation for minors and families in a language they understand, explaining the transportation process.
  • Review documentation to ensure all necessary information for travel is present.
  • Complete and verify required documentation for approved parties.
  • Deescalate situations with uncooperative individuals in both controlled and uncontrolled environments.
  • Provide clothing, hygiene supplies, meals, snacks, and drinks for minors and families during transport.
  • Conduct vehicle safety and security inspections as needed.
  • Ensure all passengers are safely secured with seat belts during transport.
  • Install car seats and booster seats properly for minors before transport.
  • Maintain constant line of sight and sound supervision of minors and families during transport.
  • Log transportation details in MVM's system, including medication administration and communication updates.
  • Report to the Command Center at established checkpoints and provide updates on any changes or concerns during transport.
  • Perform visual verification of minors and families to confirm their identity against provided documents.
  • Maintain close communication with Command Center and site leadership during travel.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited college, or a high school diploma with relevant experience.
  • At least two years of documented experience in law, social work, detention, corrections, or a related field.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to read, write, and speak both languages fluently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to outstanding customer service and professional representation of MVM.
  • Availability for domestic and international travel.
  • Ability to pass a Government Security Background Investigation, including a favorable credit check and no criminal record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Exam Certification if required.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and graveyard shifts.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
