About The Position

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert responsible for supporting the medical and scientific objectives of Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease's products across their life cycle. The MSL communicates scientific information to Healthcare Practitioners (HCPs) and maintains professional relationships with HCPs and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in the Great Plains region, which includes Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. This role requires strong business acumen, clinical expertise, and the ability to innovate to achieve medical goals.

Requirements

• MD, PharmD, or PhD in biological sciences OR NP or PA degree.
• Clinical experience in a relevant therapeutic area OR track record of success as an MSL.
• Industry experience preferred but not mandatory; therapeutic area experience preferred if no industry experience.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
• Strong personal initiative and ability to achieve goals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and high-level job competencies.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the rare disease therapeutic area.
• Familiarity with real-world evidence and HEOR.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain relationships with HCPs and KOLs.
• Evaluate territory to identify HCPs and centers of excellence.
• Develop and refine HCP engagement plans aligned with medical strategic goals.
• Communicate relevant scientific/medical information to HCPs.
• Gather and disseminate HCP insights to inform medical strategy.
• Support scientific exchange of product/disease state with external stakeholders.
• Demonstrate understanding of clinical study design and protocols.
• Support externally sponsored research and clinical trials as appropriate.
• Acquire knowledge of the US healthcare system and its impact on the rare disease ecosystem.
