About the position

As an Account Manager at Brenntag, you will be responsible for managing the overall sales efforts in your assigned territory to maximize sales and profit. This role requires a consultative sales approach, utilizing frequent face-to-face and/or telephone contact to ensure customer satisfaction. You will identify selling opportunities and act upon them assertively, focusing on both existing customers through cross- and range-selling and new leads. Upholding Brenntag's core values and focusing on customer excellence is paramount in this position. Your primary responsibilities will include customer business development, where you will meet sales objectives and focus on customer retention while improving overall customer satisfaction, including through digital channels. You will identify customer potentials and engage relevant stakeholders to set strategies and targets for growth in your assigned territory. Frequent customer visits will be essential, and you will prepare for these meetings using all available tools and reports, coordinating, negotiating, and closing proposals effectively. In addition to customer business development, you will also be responsible for new customer generation, identifying and prioritizing prospective customers, and nurturing leads down the pipeline. You will work closely with other departments, such as Product Management, to launch sales projects and ensure the best solutions for customers. Sales and general administration will also be part of your role, where you will set and maximize prices based on value-based pricing and customer segmentation. You will ensure appropriate data administration and documentation in the local CRM system, update customer opportunity pipelines, and provide regular forecasts of product demand to optimize projected requirements. Finally, maintaining an up-to-date level of product knowledge through training and staying informed about market changes will be crucial for your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct frequent customer visits, prepare meetings, coordinate, negotiate, and close proposals.
  • Manage spot business and rush offers, seeking support from Commercial Assistant when necessary.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to create optimal solutions for customers and extract maximum value.
  • Conduct market studies on potential new product opportunities by contacting customers.
  • Spot opportunities for launching sales projects in cooperation with other departments.
  • Identify and prioritize prospective customers and nurture leads down the pipeline.
  • Ensure appropriate data administration and documentation in the local CRM system.
  • Update and maintain customer opportunity pipelines and provide sales and revenue-related reporting.
  • Drive commercial and functional excellence based on guidance from the Commercial Excellence Function.
  • Provide regular forecasts of product demand to optimize projected requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date level of product knowledge and stay informed about market changes.

Requirements

  • Preferably Post-Secondary Education with a focus in Business, Science or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a sales role, preferably in the chemical distribution business.
