About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting and Tax Systems Analyst to enhance our client's accounting and tax processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing back-office operations, focusing on tax compliance, and improving departmental efficiency through advanced Excel automation and process improvements. This position is hybrid, based in Irvine, CA, and offers a salary range of $85,000 to $95,000 per year. The primary responsibilities include preparing and filing sales, use, and excise tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to state and local tax regulations, and managing documentation for tax exemptions and direct pay permits. The candidate will also develop and maintain advanced Excel templates and macros to automate tax calculations, data entry, and report generation, enhancing existing workbooks to improve accuracy and efficiency. In addition, the role involves utilizing Pivot Tables, advanced formulas, and data validation to analyze tax data, prepare variance reports, and support financial reporting. The candidate will create and update dashboards to provide insights into tax liabilities and compliance status. Identifying opportunities for automation and process optimization within the accounting and tax departments is crucial, as is implementing solutions to streamline workflows, reduce manual tasks, and improve overall efficiency. The candidate will be responsible for organizing and maintaining essential tax documents and records, supporting internal and external audits by preparing required data, and liaising with auditors and tax authorities. Staying informed about changes in tax legislation and assessing their impact on the organization is also a key part of the role, along with providing recommendations and support for tax compliance initiatives and contract reviews.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle large datasets and complex calculations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
