About the position

GFF is seeking a Senior Accounting Leader to join our growing team in Dallas. This role primarily involves leading studio project accounting, including billing, maintaining and reconciling consultant payables, overseeing accounts payable, and performing various routine accounting functions necessary for the accurate maintenance of the general ledger. The position requires collaboration with project leaders and clients, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, and mentoring accounting staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in leading day-to-day accounting functions and coordinating accounting staff involved.
  • Leads monthly GL account audit for accuracy.
  • Reviews consultant payable invoices for accuracy and proper authorization.
  • Completes consultant payable data entry including assigning correct general ledger and project codes.
  • Processes consultant invoices for payment.
  • Adheres to strict deadlines to complete billing and collection of project financial data.
  • Completes a high volume of transactions within required deadlines.
  • Analyzes contract content for project set-up and billing terms.
  • Reviews budgets prepared by project managers and monitors budget compliance.
  • Reviews and corrects project costs.
  • Generates and finalizes invoices each month and ensures clients receipt of all invoicing.
  • Handles renewal of out of state Architectural licenses.
  • Files/Renews Corporate Annual Reports/Licenses.
  • Communicates with Project Leaders, clients, consultants, and other accounting staff, working as an in-house mentor and trainer for issues related to accounting software, project financials, budgets, and contracts.
  • Assists with day-to-day business insurance activities.
  • Serves as a resource to staff regarding contract requirements related to insurance.
  • Assists in maintaining contractually required insurance and insurance certificates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 8 (10+ is preferred) years general accounting experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of general ledger and month-end close procedures.
  • Must be collaborative and have a positive attitude.
  • Proficient with computer spreadsheet packages and general accounting software.
  • Strong analytical skills and self-starter are a must.
  • Attention to detail, good communication, time management, and client service skills are a must.
  • Billing and Accounts Payable experience in the professional service industry preferred (A&E industry a plus).
  • Unanet A/E ERP system experience a HUGE PLUS!
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proficient in Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the A&E industry is a plus.
  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Excel preferred.
