About the position

The Accounts Payable Clerk plays a crucial role in the accounting team at VFC, responsible for accurately entering and processing vendor invoices. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a customer service-oriented approach. The clerk will ensure timely payments to vendors, maintain organized records, and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately verify and process invoices for multiple entities following established accounting procedures.
  • Process timely and precise payments to vendors, maintaining positive relationships and addressing any payment-related concerns.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain comprehensive, organized, and accurate accounts payable records and transactions.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, providing essential support for financial reporting.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries professionally, resolving payment issues efficiently.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights.
  • Properly save and preserve vendor invoice and payment data.
  • Perform additional duties as required, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the finance department.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with a solid grasp of accounts payable processes.
  • Experience performing payables and journal entries in an accounting ERP.
  • Attention to detail, time management, communication (verbal, listening, written), customer service and teamwork; additionally, honesty and integrity in dealing with confidential information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, One Drive).
  • Experience with Netsuite accounting software is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work and communicate successfully with remote team members.
