About the position

The position reports to the Floor Supervisor, Assistant Manager, and Store Manager. The primary responsibility is to uphold the Core Values as determined by the management team, with a focus on amazing every customer every time. Floor associates are tasked with engaging customers, determining their needs, and projecting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise as arranged by management.
  • Maintain assigned department: keep clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management with a sense of urgency.
  • Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team.
  • Remove promotional bin tags from displays and price tags as required.
  • Restock merchandise displays as needed and monitor end caps and side wings.
  • Handle special orders for non-stock items, ensuring to check with management before saying 'no' to customers.
  • Watch for shoplifters and take action in line with company policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and interaction.
  • Greet customers as soon as encountered and assist them in assigned departments or storewide.
  • Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process.
  • Actively participate in store communication and initiatives.
  • Assist customers with simple complaints and involve a manager as needed.
  • Use the Five Foot Rule to greet and acknowledge all customers within five feet.
  • Promote the Ace Rewards program and describe the Ace Helpful Promise(s).
  • Maintain awareness of promotions and advertisements.
  • Wear a radio and headset for effective communication.
  • Respond to Customer Coordinator questions as needed.
  • Assist customers with large or heavy items.
  • Offer customers a red basket for shopping use.
  • Assist in the training and development of peers.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as directed by supervision.

Requirements

  • Able to communicate professionally with customers and team members.
  • Skilled at providing prompt, friendly, and attentive customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills with a passion for details.
  • Willing to learn all areas of the store and help train others.
  • Proven track record of being a team player.
  • Knowledge and experience of various departments is strongly desired.
  • A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
  • Availability must be flexible including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication skills strongly preferred.
