About the position

The Activities Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Activities by planning, organizing, and directing engaging activities for patients. This position focuses on meeting the recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs of patients in a post-acute care facility, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs including entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and education.
• Chart patient progress and behavior appropriately and descriptively.
• Escort patients to and from activities.
• Make regular in-room visits to patients who are uninterested or unable to participate in group activities.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients.
• Assist in the evacuation of patients when necessary.
• Demonstrate dependable and regular attendance.
• Utilize reasoning skills and good judgment in various situations.
• Communicate and function productively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
• Valid driver's license in the current State with a satisfactory driving record.
• Demonstrated proficiency in arts, crafts, or music is preferred.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in a post-acute care facility.
• Ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
• Proficient in competency areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in recreational therapy or related fields.
• Skills in additional arts or crafts activities.

• Hourly pay rate starting at $15.50.
