About the position

The Activity Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs for residents in accordance with their assessments and service plans. This role involves coordinating activities, ensuring resident engagement, and maintaining a positive environment within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate activity programs.
  • Observe and report on resident attendance, mood, behavior, and involvement.
  • Participate in community planning related to resident interests and needs.
  • Assist in discharge planning and development of activity care plans.
  • Interview residents or family members to gather activity information.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a quality assurance program for the activity department.
  • Participate in facility surveys and inspections as necessary.
  • Ensure all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive.
  • Arrange transportation for field trips and other activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess a Class C driver's license.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with others.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
