About the position

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Widener University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Adjunct Faculty. This role involves teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in a variety of subjects within the biomedical engineering field. The courses include, but are not limited to, statics, biomechanics, thermodynamics, cell and tissue lab, biomaterials, bioinstrumentation, and regulatory and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in these areas and a passion for educating the next generation of engineers. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the adjunct faculty member will be expected to engage with students in a meaningful way, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This includes being available for student consultations, providing feedback on assignments, and contributing to the overall academic experience of students. The position is part-time and may require flexibility in scheduling to accommodate class times and student needs. Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomedical engineering subjects including statics, biomechanics, thermodynamics, cell and tissue lab, biomaterials, bioinstrumentation, and regulatory and manufacturing processes.
  • Engage with students to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback on student assignments and assessments.
  • Be available for student consultations and support outside of class hours.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.

Requirements

  • A strong background in biomedical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level is preferred.
