About the position

Touro University's Graduate School of Technology is seeking a knowledgeable instructor to lead the UX/UI Design Principles course. The role involves teaching essential design principles and industry-standard software, guiding students through the iterative design process, and helping them develop effective user experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a minimum of one graduate-level course (3 credits) on site at the Manhattan campus between the hours of 6pm - 9:15pm.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data.
  • Support students' learning goals by focusing on student learning outcomes and considering the needs and abilities of Touro's international student body.
  • Become familiar with academic and social support available to students.
  • Make reasonable provisions to accommodate individual differences among students.
  • Maintain the academic integrity of Touro University.

Requirements

  • Possession of an advanced degree (master's degree) in UX/UI design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, or a related field.
  • Proven industry experience in UX/UI design or related roles.
  • Demonstrated industry experience in UX/UI design or related roles, showcasing practical expertise and understanding of current industry trends.
  • Proficiency in industry standard UX/UI design software, such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and similar tools.
  • Thorough understanding and mastery of fundamental design principles relevant to UX/UI design, including information architecture, user interface patterns, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing methodologies.
  • Profound knowledge and experience in utilizing research methods crucial for effective UX/UI design, including user personas, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and mentoring students, inspiring them to excel in UX/UI design.
  • Commitment to student success and dedication to providing guidance and support to students in achieving their academic and career goals within the UX/UI design domain.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex design concepts, mentor students, and encourage active participation and critical thinking.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methodologies and materials based on the needs and progress of the students.
