About the position

The Adjunct Instructor of Communication and Media Studies will teach Public Speaking courses at North Central College during the Fall 2024 semester. This part-time faculty position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students, with a focus on fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Teach three sections of Introduction to Public Speaking in-person at the Naperville, IL campus.
  • Prepare course materials and deliver lectures effectively.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Engage with students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Participate in departmental service and contribute to the academic community.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Communication, Rhetoric, or a related field, or a Master's degree in another field with extensive practical experience as a public speaker.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and communities is highly desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • College-level teaching experience preferred.
