About the position

The Adjunct Lab Instructor for the Medical Laboratory Technology program at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College is responsible for teaching students the essential principles, procedures, and skills necessary for performing clinical laboratory tests. This role emphasizes hands-on instruction in various laboratory disciplines, ensuring students gain a comprehensive understanding of laboratory techniques, safety, quality control, and compliance standards. Responsibilities

• Supervise students in classroom and practice lab environment.
• Develop teaching materials, activities, and handouts for the course.
• Participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation activities to improve the instructional quality of the course.
• Maintain professional certification and seek opportunities for professional development.
• Perform duties assigned by the Department Chair.
• Work with the lecture instructor to ensure cohesive delivery of labs and lectures.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science, or must have their Bachelor's degree by 1/6/2024.
• ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, or ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (must obtain MLS within 3 months of teaching).
• One year of clinical experience in Clinical Laboratory Science.
• Teaching, Assistant Teaching, or Training experience required.
