About the position

San Bernardino Community College District is seeking applications for part-time, hourly adjunct positions for the Anthropology department at both San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College. This job posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified applicants for the role of Adjunct Professor in Anthropology. It is important to note that while applications are accepted on a continuous basis, this does not guarantee that the department is actively recruiting for this position at all times. Interested applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be contacted by the respective department deans or faculty chairs when there is a need for adjunct faculty. Applications submitted will remain active for a period of one year from the date of submission. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in anthropology or archaeology, or a Bachelor's degree in either of these fields combined with a Master's degree in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics, or paleontology. Candidates who do not meet these minimum requirements may submit an Equivalency Request along with supporting documents for consideration. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate experience that reflects sensitivity and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities. Experience teaching Anthropology at the college level is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Anthropology as assigned by the department.
  • Develop and implement course materials and syllabi that align with the college's curriculum standards.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain office hours for student consultations and support.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in anthropology or archaeology, or a Bachelor's degree in either of these fields combined with a Master's degree in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics, or paleontology.
  • Experience that indicates sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
