The Benefits/Compensation Advisor will be responsible for providing strategic compensation solutions for a variety of complex issues while effectively communicating the District's total wellbeing initiatives. This role requires delivering high-quality work and continuous process improvement recommendations. The advisor will analyze, research, compile data, and prepare various statistical, administrative, and financial reports as required, ensuring that necessary human capital data is accurately tracked and maintained. Key responsibilities include developing and administering salary structures, conducting market analysis to benchmark salaries and benefits, performing job evaluations, and assisting with the design and implementation of employee benefits programs. The advisor will also manage relationships with benefits providers, coordinate annual open enrollment processes, and design incentive programs to motivate and retain employees. This position is crucial in ensuring competitive and equitable pay practices while enhancing the overall employee experience within the district.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer salary structures, pay grades, and compensation policies to ensure competitive and equitable pay practices.
  • Conduct regular market analysis to benchmark salaries and benefits against industry standards.
  • Perform job evaluations and salary surveys to determine appropriate compensation levels for new and existing positions.
  • Assist with designing, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other perks.
  • Prepare regular reports on compensation metrics, such as salary increases, market positioning, and pay equity.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment processes, including employee communications and benefits fairs.
  • Design and manage incentive and bonus programs to motivate and retain employees.
  • Manage relationships with benefits providers and brokers to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and cost-effective plans.
  • Review and administer all benefits plans for the District, including plan choices, communication with staff members, and District leadership.
  • Coordinate cost concerns and tracking systems with Budget, Finance, and other District departments.
  • Ensure data integrity, efficiency, and quality for all benefits transactions and customer service provided to employees.
  • Collaborate with Finance and vendors to maintain current financial data on all welfare benefit programs.
  • Identify and evaluate trends and problem areas and recommend corrective plans of action.
  • Track, analyze, and provide guidance to management on all leave of absence related topics such as FMLA and various paid and unpaid leaves of absence.
  • Lead the presenting, implementing, developing, and coordination of meetings such as Open Enrollment, Retirement Meetings, and Benefits one-on-one sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Human Resources or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of compensation experience including job analysis, salary reviews, and market studies, or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling eight (8) years.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Professional Human Resources (PHR), and/or International Professional Management Association (IPMA-CP) certifications preferred.
