About the position

The Associate General Counsel (AGC) at United Way Worldwide (UWW) is responsible for providing strategic legal, regulatory, and business advice related to federal grants and contracts, compliance, and business transactions. This role involves managing regulatory and compliance functions, supporting investigations, and ensuring high-quality legal services that align with UWW's mission and strategic objectives. The AGC collaborates with various teams within the organization to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to facilitate effective business transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on federal and state regulations governing government-funded grants and contracts.
  • Draft, review, and develop templates for government-funded grants and contracts.
  • Negotiate contract and grant requirements with government partners.
  • Manage regulatory investigations and audits, collaborating with outside counsel as needed.
  • Develop and provide training on legal expertise in coordination with other subject matter experts.
  • Assist UWW departments in developing compliance measures for government-funded grants and contracts.
  • Monitor and advise on statutory and regulatory developments for compliance.
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and memoranda of understanding with third parties.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to achieve common goals and manage workload effectively.
  • Identify and communicate risks for projects and ensure team addresses them.

Requirements

  • J.D. and admission/license to practice law in any State in good standing.
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant experience handling complex transactions involving federal regulations.
  • Experience with federal funding and contracting, including FAR/CFR, conflicts of interest, and export controls.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, SharePoint, Oracle, and DocuSign.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work under pressure.
