About the position

The Agile Coach role at BCforward is focused on optimizing the flow of epics and features within a smaller Agile Release Train (ART) to enhance performance and growth. The coach will facilitate ART ceremonies, manage dependencies, and ensure the delivery of value while promoting Agile principles and practices among teams. This position is essential for resolving impediments and protecting teams from disruptions, ultimately empowering them to become self-managing and effective in their cross-functional roles.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and coach the teams on the Agile Release Train on Scrum practices and develop their understanding of Agile principles.
  • Help define norms/agreements for the ART and enforce the agreements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate ART ceremonies such as Backlog Refinement, Program Increment (PI) Planning, ART Sync, and Scrum of Scrums.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to ensure a healthy product/program backlog.
  • Facilitate dependency management, risk management, and impediment removal for the ART.
  • Provide status updates and reporting on ART plans, delivery, timelines, and impediments to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Enterprise Change Management and other policy requirements for technology solutions delivered by the ART.
  • Measure ART delivery, maturity, and performance, reviewing metrics with the ART to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Capture data to track product funding and resource acquisition needs.
  • Mentor junior Scrum Masters.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years as a Release Train Engineer (RTE).
  • Deep understanding of Jira.
  • Experience in defining norms/agreements for the Solution Train and enforcing them.
  • Proven experience coordinating and facilitating Solution Train ceremonies.
  • Ability to promote and facilitate communication and collaboration within the Solution Train.
  • Experience in managing an intake process and maintaining a healthy backlog.
  • Experience optimizing implementation of Enterprise Agile standards and practices.
  • Ability to identify and resolve organizational impediments affecting team performance.
  • Facilitate discussions and conflict resolution across teams and stakeholders.
  • Influence business and technology leaders on changes that enable Agility.
  • Facilitate improvements to the operating model and delivery process.
  • Establish and lead Agile Communities of Practice.
  • Scaled Agile Certified SPC 5.0.
