About the position

Leidos is seeking an Agile Instructor/Coach to join our team in the Northern Virginia area. This role is critical for driving Agile transformation across various teams and stakeholders within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance and will be a domain expert in Lean and Agile principles and practices. As a servant leader, the Agile Coach will focus on teaching, mentoring, facilitating, and providing professional coaching to enhance Agile methodologies across business and IT software application development and operational work streams. In this position, the Agile Coach will act as a change agent, challenging existing environments and cultures to foster a mindset of continuous improvement. The responsibilities include applying Agile expertise, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Agile development methods, and instilling a culture of measurement to assess the impact of changes on business effectiveness. The Agile Coach will conduct ongoing evaluations to ensure the effectiveness of Agile programs and recommend necessary training modifications. Additionally, the role involves capturing metrics at the team level to monitor and enhance performance and Agile maturity. The Agile Coach will work collaboratively with a team of coaches to ensure the quality of Agile practices across all teams and organizations. The position requires former experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner, with a strong emphasis on servant leadership. The Agile Coach will also provide expert guidance on tools such as Jira and facilitate the establishment of new Agile teams, offering interactive coaching and training on Agile frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe. Furthermore, the Agile Coach will mentor team members, cultivate their capabilities, and assist senior managers in adopting Agile and Lean practices. This role is pivotal in enabling individuals and teams to accelerate change and improve the value they deliver, ultimately contributing to the organization's Agile transformation strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Apply Agile expertise and knowledge to various teams and stakeholders.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Agile development methods and processes.
  • Instill a culture of measurement regarding the impact of changes on business effectiveness.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations to ensure the effectiveness of Agile programs and recommend necessary training modifications.
  • Capture metrics at the team level to monitor and enhance performance and Agile maturity.
  • Apply lean thinking to team-specific issues to mature the team holistically.
  • Provide role-based support and assistance as required.
  • Expertly visualize the flow of work, control Work in Progress (WIP), and manage queue sizes and batch optimization of work.
  • Collaborate with a team of coaches to maintain the quality of Agile practices across all teams and organizations.
  • Act as a change agent to enable individuals, teams, and organizations to accelerate change and improve value delivery.
  • Establish new Agile teams and provide ongoing coaching and training.
  • Coach teams and leaders on cultural transformation and mindset change for Agile methodologies.
  • Assist Scrum and Kanban teams to improve delivery performance through coaching and mentoring.
  • Conduct classroom/workshop training on Agile frameworks and methodologies.
  • On-board new teams adopting Agile practices such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
  • Assess and raise Agile competency in organizations to achieve higher levels of Agile maturity.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address Agile knowledge gaps and support effectiveness.
  • Lead Community of Practices/workshops based on specific roles or topics.
  • Mentor team members to cultivate their capabilities and enable rapid delivery of customer value.
  • Coach Senior Managers in Agile and Lean practices to become effective Agile Champions.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a BS degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must have a TS/SCI with polygraph clearance to be considered.
  • Extensive experience working at all organizational levels, from team members to senior executives, to implement Agile methodologies as a strategic asset.
  • Current experience with common Agile tools, such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Current Scrum Master or Product Owner certification(s) and experience in developing and executing Agile projects.
  • Current advanced Agile certification.
