About the position

The Agile Transformation Lead will oversee a senior-level team dedicated to coaching and supporting government staff in implementing Agile software development practices to enhance national security missions. This role involves leading large-scale Agile adoption across multiple projects, fostering organizational change, and ensuring continuous improvement in Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Point responsibility for the ongoing implementation and optimization of Agile methods and techniques on Agile projects
  • Support Program Manager on a continuous basis for Agile steering, coaching, and implementation support as well as client-requested activities
  • Provide Agile consulting and steering to multiple levels of government leadership, including staff-level managers as well as senior and executive leadership
  • Establish and improve Agile methods and capabilities where applicable, including the establishment of new Agile projects and the improvement of existing implementations
  • Coordination and execution of Agile-based planning and review activities and meetings
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support for existing program-wide initiatives, including planning efforts using program-level epics and a survey-based improvement program
  • Responsible for support and vendor management for Agile project management tools
  • Support client and internal PMO personnel for periodic / ongoing artifacts and deliverables
  • Act as an evangelist for all Agile-related topics and activities
  • Identify key metrics to allow the organization to identify and quantify levels of maturity from an agile baseline
  • Provide coaching and brown bag training to bridge teams' Agile knowledge and experience gaps
  • Provide specific guidance to project teams including Product Owners on the authoring of User Stories and their related components
  • Assist project teams in the initiation of an agile project, guiding them through numerous 'sprint zero' activities and sessions
  • Guide and train teams to conduct daily stand-up meetings, planning and review sessions, prioritize tasks and mitigate road blocks
  • Assist governance team in refining SELC deliverables and gates into an Agile model
  • Proactively resolve conflict in organization and teams

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the IT services industry, with a significant background on consulting with external clients
  • Minimum of 3 years working in an Agile environment, spread across multiple projects
  • Demonstrable managerial experience of mid-size teams on Agile-based technical projects
  • Demonstrable experience with Agile project management techniques and methods
  • Demonstrable experience in both the implementation of multiple Agile projects from the ground up, as well as transformation of multiple projects from a previous methodology to an Agile-based approach
  • Government consulting background is required
  • Excellent interpersonal, team-fostering skills and meeting facilitation skills are required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and specifically presentation communication skills are required
  • Possess strong leadership and organization skills, must display excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, project planning, people and team building skills
  • Demonstrable experience working in an Agile environment over at least two years, spread across multiple Agile projects

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a technical or business discipline is preferred
