About the position

The Air Conditioning/Heating Mechanic 1 position at Austin Peay State University involves performing inspections, servicing, and repairing heating, cooling, ventilating, and refrigeration equipment under the supervision of the HVAC Supervisor. This role is essential for maintaining the university's HVAC systems and ensuring a comfortable environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment including central air conditioning systems, heat pumps, wall heaters, central heating systems, portable heaters, air flow ducting, walk-in coolers, freezers, and all hydronic equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment, control circuitry, and refrigerant circuitry.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records on equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on commercial equipment.
• Serve as boiler operator as needed.
• Wear proper PPE (safety shoes, hearing and eye protection) as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• A minimum of one (1) year of HVAC work experience or equivalent schooling.
• Refrigerant-handling certification.
• Valid driver's license.
