About the position

The Aircraft Structures Technician is responsible for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of aircraft structural components to ensure the safety and airworthiness of the aircraft. This role involves assessing and addressing structural issues, performing repairs, and adhering to regulatory and safety standards. The technician will work with a range of tools and techniques to maintain the integrity of aircraft structures, including fuselages, wings, and landing gear. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of aircraft systems and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess structural damage, wear, and defects using various tools and techniques.
  • Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures and varied drilling and riveting operations; ensures parts/assembly meet requirements.
  • Examine aircraft flying surfaces and supporting sheet metal structures to determine extent of repair using applicable technical manuals.
  • Conduct repairs and modifications on aircraft structures as needed, including patching, riveting, and replacing damaged parts.
  • Fabricate, lay out, form and install a variety of metal surfaces and structural members for aircraft.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, type size and hole pattern for rivets.
  • Align and assemble parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Ensure all repairs meet or exceed regulatory and manufacturer standards.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Follow FAA regulations and company standards to maintain compliance.
  • Fabricate parts as necessary to complete repairs.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 2 years' experience in aircraft structures maintenance or related field.
  • Experience with aircraft structural parts fabrication, assembly processes and procedures.
  • Experience with sheet metal assemblies, drilling, countersinking, riveting, and fastener installation.
  • Operates all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Flexibility in scheduling required.
  • Must successfully pass background check and drug test.

Nice-to-haves

  • Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic (A&P) Certificate recommended, but not required.
