About the position

Chipton-Ross is seeking 20 Assembler B's for a contract opportunity in North Charleston, SC. This position is 100% onsite and involves performing routine production assembly operations on structural and mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and aircraft systems, equipment, and accessories using manual operations. The assembler will be responsible for selecting the correct parts, materials, tools, assemblies, standards, and hardware, and will install, fit, fasten, align, adjust, and perform the necessary pre-installation assembly work to accomplish the installation of structural components. This requires the use of production and engineering prints to determine exact locations. The assembler must report job constraints such as errors caused by workmanship, defects in parts, materials, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc., in accordance with Client procedures. Additionally, the assembler will perform any repairs, rework, functional checks, and incorporate authorized changes as outlined by the Lead. The role requires the ability to drill close tolerance holes in composites, tool indexing, and gap measurement. A strong understanding of blueprints, drawings, schematics, engineering dispositions, and instructions is essential. Safety is a priority, and the assembler must employ the use of safety glasses, safety harnesses, respirators, boot socks, and other pertinent safety equipment 100% of the time. Maintaining exemplary housekeeping and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) standards is crucial, as is keeping a clean, neat, organized, and FOD-free work area. The position also requires a basic understanding and knowledge of computer systems and programs, as well as the ability to stand for long periods and work in elevated and/or confined spaces. Frequent overhead work and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications in English.
  • Aerospace systems experience including hydraulic, ICS, PECS, duct installation, IFE, and interior decorative repair.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift 21-35 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in elevated and/or confined spaces.
  • Experience understanding and interpreting detailed written and verbal work instructions and processes.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must pass visual acuity and color perception tests.
  • Ability to handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing programs from recognized institutions.
  • 3 years of solid Aerospace Systems Experience.
