About the position

The Engineering Chief of Staff at Altera is a pivotal role responsible for supporting a member of the executive team, specifically the Head of Engineering. This position involves managing high-level activities, driving organizational projects, and fostering relationships within the Engineering organization and with external stakeholders. The role is designed for high-performing professionals seeking accelerated business and leadership learning, with a targeted assignment length of 24 months, subject to business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all staff activities and meetings, creating collaterals for internal and external purposes.
  • Drive organizational special projects and manage Engineering stakeholder relationships.
  • Work with the broader organization to set priorities and understand gaps.
  • Develop strong lateral connections with business groups.
  • Create and define business processes within the Engineering organization or specific functions.
  • Integrate standard operations functions like HR, Finance, and Staffing.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor/software industries.
  • MBA preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of FPGA products and technologies, and Altera's business strategies preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated strong networking abilities and leadership capabilities.
  • Resourceful and trustworthy with sensitive information.
  • Strong business acumen and organizational savvy to achieve results across multiple groups.
  • Skills to coach senior leaders and staff for Altera's best interests and strategic objectives.
  • Ability to understand and interpret industry trends and drive strategies.
  • Independent work style with the ability to manage diverse assignments in a complex environment.
  • Strong self-initiative and persistence with skills to deal with ambiguity.
  • Detail-oriented with skills to analyze and interpret data for financial results.
  • Effective communication skills with executives both internal and external.
  • Strong program management background with a proven track record of delivering high-impact programs.
