About the position
The American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter position at Millbrook Support Services is designed to support students in educational settings by providing interpretation services. This role is crucial for fostering inclusive environments, ensuring that students with hearing impairments can access quality education while receiving necessary health-related support. The position requires a dedicated professional who can effectively communicate in ASL and English, and who has experience working with children in educational contexts.
Responsibilities
- Provide interpretation services in American Sign Language for students in educational settings.
- Assist in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as needed.
- Ensure effective communication between students, teachers, and other educational staff.
- Maintain a clean criminal background check and federal security clearance.
- Support students' academic and health-related needs through effective communication.
Requirements
- Valid ASL teaching certification.
- 3+ years of experience working with children in educational settings.
- Experience with IEP development.
- Proficient in English and basic computer skills.
- Clean criminal background check and federal security clearance.
- 1+ year of translating and interpreting in educational settings.
