About the position

The Analytical Lab Manager will lead a team of Scientists and Technicians at the Research & Innovation Center, focusing on the analysis of formulated polymer products. This role requires expertise in various analytical and rheological techniques, as well as the ability to manage daily lab operations and expand the lab's capabilities through the development and implementation of new analytical methods.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the group responsible for developing new and improved methods and techniques in chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy, rheology, and physical and chemical separation techniques.
  • Identifying, developing, and implementing analytical methods and techniques to better understand and predict formulation interactions and long-term performance.
  • Building knowledge on fundamental properties of formulation components, such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, flame retardants, catalysts, stabilizers, and curatives.
  • Leading analytical project teams that support product development projects and troubleshoot product, process, and field installation issues.
  • Providing technical support and assistance to product managers, R&D chemists and engineers, and the production and warranty group.
  • Managing the calibration, performance monitoring, maintenance, and operation of equipment.
  • Creating and implementing standards and processes that maintain a safe and clean work environment in the analytical lab.

Requirements

  • PhD or MS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Materials Science.
  • Experience managing a team of Analytical Scientists and Analytical Technicians.
  • Advanced analytical knowledge in commonly used analytical and rheological techniques including TGA, DSC, GC, LC, DMA, rheometer, FTIR, MS, GPC, NMR, SEM, AFM, and elemental analysis.
  • Familiarity with analysis of formulation components, such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, flame retardants, catalysts, stabilizers, and curatives.
  • Knowledgeable in physical and chemical separation techniques.
