About the position

The Angular Web Accessibility Developer at Capgemini is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the accessibility of web applications. This role involves identifying accessibility issues, implementing solutions, and ensuring code quality through testing and reviews. The developer will work closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to enhance web accessibility, while also mentoring team members and staying updated with industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain the accessibility of existing web applications.
  • Identify accessibility issues by running scans on web pages.
  • Identify potential solutions and discuss with engineering teams and stakeholders for approval.
  • Implement approved solutions and test on both desktop and mobile browsers.
  • Coordinate with accessibility testing squads on the fixes.
  • Document fixes and mentor team members.
  • Ensure code quality through writing unit tests, performing code reviews, and adhering to coding standards.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in production and non-production environments.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies and recommend improvements to the existing system architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working as a UI developer with prior accessibility experience.
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG guidelines.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, RxJS, SASS or SCSS, NodeJS, and Web Accessibility.
  • Hands-on experience in unit testing frameworks like Karma, Jasmine, Jest, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in screen readers like NVDA, JAWS, Voiceover, and Talkback.
  • Familiarity with both desktop and mobile browsers like Google, Edge, and Safari, and should be able to use devtools for debugging purposes.
  • Familiarity with Axe tool and experienced in cloud platforms like AWS.
  • Proficiency in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of software development best practices including version control (e.g., Git), Agile methodologies, and DevOps principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
